Registration of Internet Domain Names
What we do
Our primary business is design, manufacture and delivery of mobile data, vehicle location and job dispatch systems for the emergency services including Police, Fire and Ambulance and public transport and public utility market places in the UK, Europe and elsewhere in the world – read more about what we do.
As a secondary function we occasionally register Internet domain names for our own use, for selected customers that need a domain name as part of its strategic route to market for certain technologies or to deliver bespoke solutions for customers.
Our Nominet membership number is M00536 and we use the THORCOM tag.
DOMAIN REGISTRATIONS
Existing Customer Relationship
To register an internet domain name via us you already have to be known to us and have a trading relationship with us. We do not sell domain name registration services on the open market.
No agency or resellers
We do not sell domain names via any form of ‘agents’ or ‘resellers’ as a consequence if you have a domain registered with us it will be on the THORCOM tag and you are dealing exclusively with Thorcom Systems Limited.
Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions (the “Conditions”) together with our standard Terms of Business and the documents referred to herein shall form the entire agreement (the “Agreement”) between us for the provision of Internet domain name registrations and services.
Thorcom reserves the right to change these Conditions or our standard Terms of Business at any time to comply with changes in legislation or regulatory requirements or by reason of changes in the terms of business or working practices of our suppliers or developments in technology upon giving Customer not less than fourteen (14) days notice in advance by post, email or publishing the alterations on this page of our website.
Where we make a change to these Terms & Conditions notice will be sent to the Customer via email or letter using the contact details held by Thorcom.
Except where the changes to these Conditions is as a result of legislative or regulatory requirements you may terminate the Agreement without penalty by giving Thorcom written notice to reach us no later than seven (7) days prior to the alteration date of the Conditions . If we do not receive such a notice from you prior to that date, and/or if you continue to use the service after sending us a notice, you will be deemed to have accepted the alteration to the Conditions.
For all UK domain name registrations (including but not limited to co.uk, me.uk, org.uk, ltd.uk, plc.uk, net.uk and .uk) you are entering into an agreement with Nominet UK, who administer the .uk namespace. Nominet UK’s terms and conditions can be found at:

For European domain name registrations (domains ending in “.eu”) you are entering into an agreement with EURid, who administer the .eu namespace. Their terms and conditions can be found at:

For domains with suffixes .com .org or .net you are entering into an agreement with Thorcom as a reseller of Tucows/OpenSRS Inc. who in turn are a registrar accredited by ICANN (Internet Cooperation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to directly register global domain names. Pricing and duration of registrations
Domain names in the “uk” name space (.co.uk, .ltd.uk, .plc.uk, .net.uk, .me.uk and .uk) are registered for a minimum period of two years for which the fee is £12.00+VAT per year
Domain names in the “eu” name space (anything ending .eu) are registered for a minimum period of one year for which the fee is £15.00+VAT per year
Domain names in the US name spaces “com”, “net” or “org” (anything ending .com .net or .org) are registered for a minimum period of one year for which the fee is £15.00+VAT per year
Renewals
As you will already be a customer of Thorcom with a credit account, unless you specifically contact us and tell us otherwise, we will assume that you wish to automatically renew your domain name(s) when they become due for renewal.
We will issue you a renewal notice and invoice 60 days before the domain renewal is due. You are expected to pay the invoice within your normal 30 day invoice-payment cycle upon which we will ensure that the domain name(s) in question are renewed in time to provide continued registration of your domain name(s).
If you fail to pay the invoice after 30 days we will send a reminder that your domain is due to expire in 30 days. If you still have not paid the renewal invoice we will contact you again by telephone between 7-14 days before your domain name is due to expire to remind you that it will expire if not renewed.
If you still do not pay the invoice we WILL NOT renew your domain name – your domain will be allowed to lapse.
If you do not agree to renew your domain we will:
a) write to you confirming that you no longer wish to own the domain name;
b) issue a credit note cancelling the domain renewal invoice; and
c) cancel or otherwise delete or “untag” the domain name (see below)
When we contact you we will also give you the option to transfer your domain registration to another registrar (see “Domain transfers out”) below.
Domain transfers in
In the unlikely event that you wish to transfer a domain name to the Thorcom tag please either:
a) telephone us on 01905 756700 and ask for Tina Evans, or
b) send an email to domains@thorcom.co.uk
and provide us details of your domain name and current ISP or Tag holder.
There is no charge for transfers in.
Domain transfers out
In the unlikely event that you wish to transfer a domain name that you registered with us or have maintained by us to another ISP or Registrar please:
a) telephone us on 01905 756700 and ask for Tina Evans, or
b) send an email to domains@thorcom.co.uk
and provide us details of your domain name and who you wish to transfer the domain name to.
We will contact you again separately to verify your request to transfer the domain name away from us to another ISP or Registrar as an anti-fraud preventative measure.
We will not allow you to transfer a domain name or names away from us (transfer out) if there are outstanding monies or unpaid invoices in respect of registration services for the domain in question.
There is no charge for transfers out.
Deleting a domain
If you no longer wish to use a domain we can delete your domain by a process referred to as “untagging” it,one a domain name is untagged it will cease to work and then at a later date expire.
If you contact us and ask us to delete your domain we will contact you again separately to verify your request as an anti-fraud preventative measure.
We will not allow you to delete a domain name if there are outstanding monies or unpaid invoices in respect of registration services for the domain in question.
There is no charge for deleting a domain name.
Service and timescales
We aim to process all requests for DNS name registrations, transfers in and transfers out within a maximum of five (5) working days but usually within 1-2 working days.

We recommend, but do not expect or require, you to use the Thorcom DNS servers for your DNS zone files.
Looking to purchase a domain name?
If you are interested in purchasing a domain name that is currently registered to one of our customers then please send an email to domains@thorcom.co.uk with the name of the domain and your details and we will pass it on to the registrant.
Complaints and abuse
If you have a complaint about our domain name registrations service or if you have a complaint about a website or email address that is using a domain registered on the THORCOM tag then please contact us by:
a) telephone us on 01905 756700 and ask for domain name administration, or
b) send an email to support@thorcom.co.uk
and provide us details of your complaint.
If the complaint is regarding a website and possible unlawful use then we will contact the registrant on your behalf.
